Coffee thoughts

  Becca Foodstore 11/12/2023 I've made it to my final official café review. I will do one more post about the best of the best, but as for regular coffee reviews I am done for now. I have honestly just got too busy. That's not to say I won't in the future, but I also won't commit to anything either. Doing this for just going on a year has taught me one very important thing though. It is so important to take time for yourself and that becomes even more important when you become a parent. It doesn't have to be a lot of time, just regularly. I know it makes me a better mother.   Hawkeye's Kitchen 24/11/2023 Eeek, 1 month until Christmas! Good thing I'm about half done with my present shopping 😎 I've gone out for lunch for my lunch break to a local café/burger joint which has only been open about 2 months. I came to this café around a fortnight ago and the food was excellent. Some of the cafes I was going to review have since closed so decided to come back for more food and to give the coffee a go. Let's review: Coffee look - 1 Coffee flavour - 0.5 Price - $5.50 = 1 Pram friendly - 1 Atmosphere - 0.5 Total: 4/5 It's hard to make take away coffee look good, but they've done well.  I got a lovely aroma when I went in for a sniff. The flavour is definitely there but could be a touch strong. Good quality coffee. At $5.50 there is nothing to complain about price wise. Mick's at Sweet by Nature (Sweet by Nature) 11/11/2023 The last few weeks have been zooming by with such force I decided to stop for a breather coffee and lunch after errands. I almost didn't because I feel like I'll have so much washing etc when I get home. But it can wait. Let's review: Coffee look - 1 Coffee flavour - 1 Price - $18.30 for meal, so $5.30 at a guess = 1 Pram friendly - 1 Atmosphere - 1 Total: 5/5 I'm not overly surprised they got such a good rating. I've been to Sweet by Nature many times over the years and their coffee and food has always been good. The café section is now a separate business called Mick's at Sweet by Nature. Thankfully the quality of everything is still excellent. When I took my first sniff I knew I was in for a good coffee. The froth was lusciously velvety and the perfect intro on what was to come.   Misha's Café (Formerly Proud Mamma) 03/11/2023 I'm doing something a little different today. I'm starting off by going to Degani for lunch and then another café after. I've got a Dr's appointment at 2pm to go over recent bloods, but she tends to check my blood pressure most visits. Believe it or not decaf can put your blood pressure up a bit so I decided not to risk it. I've already reviewed Degani so not much point re-doing that. One of the other cafés I visited in January has changed hands so I thought I'd do a review of them. My bloods were all good, Dr happy with blood pressure and weight but glad I waited until after to grab coffee. I went into Misha's café at 2:40pm to be told they were doing take away only, so I guess they must close at 3pm. As far as I can tell they have only been open 1 week.   Darby's  Café 13/10/2023 Friday the 13th for my next coffee review, how fitting. It's been a busy few weeks but, for the life me I can't remember why sometimes. Mum brain is fantastically infuriating. I was going to do a review last weekend and then we were exceptionally busy on the Saturday and I felt overwhelmed and couldn't be bothered in the end. This review is now 3.5 weeks after the last which is definitely too long. I need to be able to vent my frustration out and just have a second to myself to think. I Have to keep it to 2-3 weeks max even outside of reviewing, especially if I'm not seeing my Psychologist regularly. Once I've finished this list, I will do a year in review to rank the top choices. After that I'm not sure if I will keep doing this. But I will keep taking myself for coffees to journal.   Agatha Coffeeshop & Deli (Was called the Corner Store Deli when I made the list initially) 18/09/2023 I've put a reminder in my phone for every fortnight to go to a café so I don't forget. At 2.5 weeks in between cafes this time I think it's working. I'm also finding Monday or Friday after work ideal since I work half days and don't like to over plan my weekends too much. our daughter also gets too restless in the pram now which makes things awkward for café visits. Another good reason to do my reviews on Monday or Friday is to actually treat myself to a nice meal and hopefully good coffee as well. It gives me a chance to unwind and relax, instead of going home and probably doing housework or something on my to do list.
