Muse Ivanhoe 19/02/2023 Wow, it's been a hectic few weeks since I did this. I was supposed to go to Extracted today but they looked way too busy and I couldn't be bothered waiting. I'm oh so very tired as I had a really bad nights sleep. I couldn't get to sleep until sometime after 2am. I kept getting hot and cold, couldn't get comfortable and my husband kept snoring. My coffee just got here so let's get into it: Coffee look - 1 Coffee flavour - 1 Price - $5.30 = 1 Pram friendly - 0.5 Atmosphere: 1 Total: 4.5/5 My coffee has a nice velvety foam and a good coffee flavour. Also, it's nice and hot so will last me a little while. Like most cafes on Upper Heidelberg Road it would be way too hard to navigate inside with a pram, and there is a step up. I gave it half a star because there are a few tables out the front where you could have a pram. I also don't want to discount them completely since the coffee is nice. The last few weeks have been pretty busy b...

Coffee Club (Northland) 06/02/2023 So today is a slight deviation from my current list because I dropped my baby off for her first day at childcare, and I needed something to do and brekkie. Let's get straight into it with the coffee rating: Coffee flavour - 1 Coffee look - 1 Price: $5.50 = 1 Pram friendly - 0.5 Atmosphere - 1 Total: 4.5/5 The coffee itself is up there. Nice froth, good coffee flavour and nice and hot. I've only taken half a mark off for pram friendly since you'd really only want to sit at the outer tables with a pram which is problematic when busy. I have walked away before for this reason. Just had a call from childcare that I need to bring some bottles for milk feeds, so I'll have to continue this later. Picking up from where I left off before, it's currently 4:08pm and apart from having to drop bottles off this morning today went without a hitch. My baby settled in fine. I only wish I had planned more for myself today to distract myself as I...

Proud Mamma 29/01/2023 Finally , I'm starting to tackle some of the cafes at the beginning of my list and almost approaching the halfway mark for this part of Ivanhoe.  If I get to the end of my list and both Airlie CafĂ© and Laurent are still closed I may have to pause this list and circle back to them later. I'm still working out a rating system but I really want it to be out of 5 stars. I'm thinking something like this: Pram friendly Coffee flavour Coffee look Price Friendly staff/atmosphere I know the last point should be something obvious and that all cafes would be good at, but it can also be subjective to ones own opinion. And let's face it this whole thing is based on my opinion. It's a work in progress, just like me. Anyway, this gives me a super easy way to break it down and rate. My coffee just came so let's rate: Coffee flavour - 0 Coffee look - 0 Price - $5.20 = 1 Pram friendly - 0.5 Friendly staff/atmosphere - 0.5  Total: 2/5 I am super disappoint...

Caffe Strada 25/01/2023 I've been feeling trapped in an unhealthy cycle of wanting to get up earlier but constantly sleeping in because, what's the point? Everyday is the same. It's very lonely and isolating when you are the first (and will possibly be the only one) in your friendship group to have a baby. Not to mention when the new parents group you were part of through a different council goes quiet it's really hard. I did have an appointment with a maternal health nurse to check in when we moved to Ivanhoe. I asked to get connected with other mums but was told you only get funded once for a new parents group and that I had to look into playgroups. The nurse did send me information about the playgroups, but I feel it's a bit of a cop out. Today I decided to try and change the narrative a bit and brought my baby on a coffee walk. I have a psychology appointment later today which is good, and childcare orientation the day after. The week after that she starts chi...
